Heard of a PDO Thread Lift? If so, beware!

Facelift in Bucks County, PA, and Hunterdon County, NJWhat if I told you that there is a procedure called a thread lift that can give you the same results as a face-lift, but with fewer invasions, less recovery time, and at a fraction of the cost?  Does it sound too good to be true? That’s because it is.

The procedure places strings and barbed sutures through the tissues of the face and neck.  This is meant to lift the tissue and create a younger and tighter appearance, but because there are not many sutures placed, the strings are not undermined and oftentimes pull through the tissue rather than support and lift it.

Customer satisfaction ratings for this procedure have been extremely low, with tales of horror about painful and unsightly side effects during recovery.  One website in particular, realself.com, reports a measly 14% rate of satisfaction.  So what are some of the customer complaints?

Many patients have reported excessive bruising that lasted for 5 or more weeks.  They have also mentioned that they are unable to talk much or laugh/smile during that time because of the pain it would cause.  Others mentioned that the threads caused rippling and swelling in certain parts of the face, and some individuals even had the threads poke through their skin.  Furthermore, the procedure can cause permanent scarring.

Out of those whose side effects eventually wore off, some did mention that they liked the results and felt as though the skin had been lifted…but were very disappointed that the results only lasted for a few months as opposed to the advertised year.

Due to the complications, the pain, and the short length of time that any results were seen, most patients recommend that someone considering this procedure should simply put their money towards an actual facelift.  To schedule a consultation to learn more about facelift procedures, call Buinewicz Plastic Surgery at 215-647-9668.
