Meet Dr. Brian Buinewicz
Dr. Brian Buinewicz has practiced plastic surgery in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and Hunterdon County, New Jersey since 1990. Board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, he built his practice on general and reconstructive surgery training before focusing his career on breast surgery, breast implant illness, and complex wound and abdominal wall reconstruction. He served as Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at Abington Memorial Hospital for over two decades and now holds Emeritus status there. Alongside his clinical practice, he teaches as a Clinical Assistant Professor at three Philadelphia-area medical schools. Dr. Buinewicz's practice centers on breast surgery, including augmentation, reduction, reconstruction, and breast implant removal. He has a particular clinical focus on breast implant illness and total capsulectomy, an area where he has published outcomes research based on a review of 248 of his own patients.
His training in general surgery and a fellowship-level focus on wound care also shaped a specialty in complex wound reconstruction and abdominal wall repair, including hernia repair using acellular dermal matrix techniques. He directed Abington Memorial Hospital's Comprehensive Wound Healing Center for over five years.
Today his practice also offers the full range of aesthetic surgery and medical spa services, including body contouring, facial surgery, and injectables, provided alongside his wife and practice partner, Dr. Annie Buinewicz.

Research Recognition
His 2021 outcomes study on implant removal and total capsulectomy for breast implant illness, based on 248 patients, was named the 2022 PRS Global Open Best Paper in the Breast Category. He has authored more than a dozen peer-reviewed publications since 1989, covering breast reconstruction, abdominal wall repair, and breast implant illness, and has presented his research at national and international plastic surgery meetings, most recently at the 2024 Breast Implant Health Summit.
