Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) for a Youthful Look

Blepharoplasty in Bucks County, PA, and Hunterdon County, NJIf you’re looking for a way to restore youthfulness to the face, you may be overlooking one of the most important features – your eyes! The eyes play a large role in your facial expressiveness, so having symptoms like drooping eyelids or bags under the eyes can make you look much older than you actually are. Luckily, eyelid surgery is a fairly simple procedure that can help you turn back time and restore your youthful glow.

What is the Eyelid Surgery Procedure Like?

The eyelid surgery procedure, or blepharoplasty, is a quick surgical treatment that trims away excess skin from the eyes. The treatment can actually be divided into two procedures, an upper eyelid surgery and a lower eyelid surgery. For the upper eyelids, incisions are made within the natural folds of the eyelids, where any scarring will be well-hidden. Then, excess skin is trimmed away so that the eyelids rest at a more open position, making you look more alert and possibly even enhancing your field of vision. For the lower eyelids, incisions are also made within the natural folds of the eyelids. Then, excess skin is removed and some fat may also be removed or redistributed to eliminate bags under the eyes. These procedures can be performed separately or as a full eyelid surgery procedure.

What is Recovery from Eyelid Surgery Like?

Like most surgeries, there will be a brief recovery period following your eyelid surgery. Patients often take a few days away from work and other obligations to rest and recuperate. You may experience varying bruising, swelling and discomfort during this time. It can take a few weeks to completely heal from eyelid surgery, but many patients find that their results significantly improve their self-image.

Is Eyelid Surgery Right for Me?

If you would like to reduce the effects that aging has had on the eyes, cosmetic eyelid surgery may be the perfect solution. If you are experiencing impaired vision or ptosis, the blepharoplasty procedure can also help you alleviate these symptoms and restore function and comfort to the eyes. In these cases, we perform the same procedure with an extra focus on the muscles to ensure the eyes function optimally.
