What Is Botox®?
Botox® is an injectable solution produced from a refined bacterium which is inserted directly into the targeted facial muscles with a very thin needle. Its most typical use is for fighting the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, such as the “1’s” that appear between the eyebrows, and often appear as a result of aging. Generically referred to as botulinum toxin type A, Botox® works by temporarily freezing the targeted facial muscles, causing the wrinkles in the area to smooth over, leaving a firmer, younger-looking appearance.

Benefits Of Botox®
Injectable muscle relaxants such as Botox® are helpful because they reverse common issues such as:
- Deep wrinkles along the brow and forehead.
- Extreme underarm perspiration.
- The appearance of “crow’s feet”.
Botox®, like many cosmetic treatments, help to give the patients a more radiant, rejuvenated appearance which reflects positively on their quality of life and self-confidence.
Is Botox® Right for Me?
If you are 18 or older, in good overall health, and self-conscious about facial lines and wrinkles, Botox® may be the solution for you. Dr. Buinewicz delivers Botox® injections to patients who wish to erase the appearance of wrinkles caused by facial muscle movement, such as frown lines or brow wrinkles. Muscle relaxant injections, such as Botox®, are a minimally invasive substitute for those clients who prefer a non-surgical alternative.
How Involved Is the Botox® Procedure?
Botox® injections can be performed in the comfort of the doctor’s office in a matter of only a few minutes. There is no need for anesthesia, and you are able to resume your normal daily activities immediately following your appointment. Dr. Buinewicz’s technique involves multiple injections of a small volume of Botox®. She uses a very fine needle to insert the diluted version of the botulinum toxin directly into the facial muscle, where it temporarily blocks nerve signals. As a result, the muscle relaxes, and the wrinkled skin becomes smoothed out.
How Long Is the Recovery After Botox®?
Many patients choose to receive their Botox® treatments during their lunch break since they are able to return to work and other activities immediately following their appointment. Side effects may include slight bruising or a headache for one to two days post-treatment. You should avoid rubbing your face. No bandages are required over the treatment area. Results generally last for up to six months following treatment.

Botox FAQs
How long does Botox take to perform?
Botox injections take only a few minutes to perform. We will start by applying a local anesthetic to the skin. Once the skin is numbed, we’ll inject Botox into the desired treatment area. This can involve multiple injections in multiple areas depending on your treatment goals. In most cases, treatment is completed in less than 30 minutes.
When will I see results from Botox?
Botox takes a few days to take effect on the muscles and produce visible effects on the face. Patients can expect to notice results from Botox between 3 and 7 days after receiving the injections, with the full effects becoming visible in approximately 2 weeks. These results typically last 3 months.
How long is recovery after Botox treatments?
There is no recovery or downtime required after Botox treatments. You can return to work and upright activities immediately after your Botox appointment. We do restrict bending over or taking a nap in the first 3 hours after injection. You can return to full workout activity 12 hours after injection. You can expect some minor redness or sensitivity in the skin after your injections, but these symptoms typically fade within a few days.
