Brow Lift
in Bucks County, PA, and Hunterdon County, NJ

Did you know that one of the first areas on the face to suffer from signs of aging is the forehead? Over time, gravity and stress take their toll, causing drooping of the skin and soft tissues around the eyebrows and wrinkling on the forehead itself. Buinewicz Plastic Surgery, located in Doylestown, PA, and Flemington, NJ, and led by board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Brian R. Buinewicz, helps Hunterdon County, New Jersey, and Bucks County, Pennsylvania residents fight the effects of aging with the brow lift. The brow lift, also known as the forehead lift, works to restore your youthful appearance by lifting your brow and smoothing forehead wrinkles.

What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift gives a more youthful contour to the forehead, upper eyelids, and eyebrows by tightening the skin soft tissue in these areas. There are many brow-lift techniques, which involve making different length incisions in different locations. A younger-looking brow, at rest, is positioned above the eye, with a gradual arch lengthwise, and the ‘tail’ of the brow located higher than the central point. As a person grows older, it is typical for the brow to assume a horizontal position. A sagging brow often inhibits your ability to express emotions. Therefore, a brow lift is a proven method for rejuvenating a person's entire facial appearance and improve the ability to demonstrate facial expression. Thousands of cosmetic surgery patients undergo brow lifts in the U.S. each year and are amazed by their results.

When To Consider A Brow Lift

  • You always look tired, sad, or grumpy.
  • Your forehead has deep, horizontal lines.
  • You have frown lines or furrows between your eyebrows or above the bridge of your nose.
  • You have excess skin tissue around your eyes.

Related Procedures To a Brow Lift

In order to achieve a total transformation of your face, you may combine the brow lift with the following additional procedures:

  • Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) to rejuvenate aging, tired-looking eyes.
  • Facelift to tighten and tone the mid to lower face and neck regions.

Upper eyelid surgery is often performed in conjunction with a brow lift to relieve the patient of heavy, sagging eyebrows, which cause the eyelids to also appear to sag. Injectable fillers may also be performed as additional complementary procedures in order to add volume and contour to the upper facial region.  Also, neurotoxins can help modulate muscle function in the areas around the eyes.

Benefits of a Brow Lift

  • Corrects a sagging brow and eyelid sag.
  • Raises the eyebrows to a position previously held.
  • Gives the patient an overall more pleasant, happier resting facial expression.

Am I a Good Candidate For a Brow Lift?

You may want to think about considering a brow lift if:

  • You consistently look sad because the outside of your brow sags or your brows are drooping over the bonery rim of the eye..
  • You consistently look angry because the central portion of your brow hangs down.
  • You are unable to apply makeup to the upper eyelid because the surface area has been obscured by drooping facial tissue as you have gotten older.
  • You are able to gently pull your excess eyelid or brow skin into a more relevant position to correct the issue.

The Brow Lift Procedure

Dr. Buinewicz will examine your facial features and the area to be treated and advise you whether the classic or open brow lift technique,  the endoscopic technique or a limited incision brow lift  is right for you. These procedures typically require the same preparation, where the hair is tied back with rubber bands around the incision area, when necessary. Dr. Buinewicz will then make the predetermined incisions but will discuss incision placement with you prior to the procedure. Your forehead skin is gently raised, and parts of facial muscle and excess tissues are removed. The incisions are then stitched closed.

Brow Lift Recovery

Depending on which brow lift technique Dr. Buinewicz performs, your recovery will vary. With the open technique, some numbness, swelling, and temporary discomfort around the incision area may occur. The swelling could also affect the cheeks and eyes but should disappear within a week or so. It is also possible to lose some hair around the incision area, but regular hair growth should resume within a few weeks or months. With the endoscopic brow lift technique, numbness, minimal discomfort at the incision site, and some mild swelling usually occur. There is more of an itching sensation with the open brow lift technique than the endoscopic forehead lift. Temporary numbmness after the procedure is common.

How Much Does a Brow Lift Cost?

Costs will vary from patient to patient as each cosmetic procedure is personalized to each individual. In many situations, a combination of different procedures can be performed collectively to achieve the best results. To help offset the costs of treatments, Buinewicz Plastic Surgery is proud to offer flexible financing. Our office also accepts many forms of payment including cash, personal checks, and major credit cards to help make our services affordable and accessible to all.
